From the critique of the Klec CD "15 pisni o lasce" (15 Songs of Love) in magasine "Rovnost" 3. 11. 2001

Brno, Ostrava – Klec belongs to one of those “queer” Prague groups which in a completely original way blend folk, punk, country, pubrock, klezmer and the Balcan music. Even without a more significant interest and support on the part of the media they are generaly known and regularly fill Prague smaller concert halls up to the brim. (...)The newly produced album of Klec under the title of “15 Songs about Love” talk evidently not just about love, see for example the song “Levicova” (Left Wing). “Fifteen Songs” is a very interesting fusion of klezmer, folk and and even some light country elements. The instrumentation is built upon creativity, capturing collective arrangements with one or two dominant instruments a song at maximum are sufficient to distinguish between the nature of two different songs. Concerning the authorship of these works it is the work of Martin Smid who, beside his own original composition, wrote new, up-to-date lyrics even for the Jewish traditionals in Czech. (...)
